Dear Hunting Friends
Welcome to another edition of the JWK Safaris newsletter. We have had action packed hunts in our South Africa and Zimbabwe hunting concessions, as well as securing quota and new concessions for the 2018 hunting season to make the 2018 season even better. This newsletter contains our 2018 concession information and is a must read if you are considering hunting in or selling hunts in Zimbabwe or RSA in the near future.
Lets start off with an excellent buffalo and blue wildebeest hunted in South Africa with good friend Brandon out from the US. This was Brandon’s first trip to Africa and he walked away with some excellent memories and trophies.
Moving over to Zimbabwe in the Matetsi ECA Safari Area with PH Steve, we guided clients from all over the world on some very good hunts with some very good trophies. The Matetsi Safari Area situated in North Western Zimbabwe close to the famous Victoria Falls and is Zimbabwe’s oldest and best-known hunting safari area. The Matetsi Units are the best remaining wild, free range, fair chase hunting areas in Africa today as you can see from the quality of the trophies below.
Over to our Gonarezhou Safari Area concession’s with PH Nixon Dzingai, we had some fantastic old dagga boys hunted. The quality of buffalo hunted in the Gonarezhou Safari Area is the best in Zimbabwe with the area average being over 40 inches and a 2012 best buffalo measuring over 50 inches.

We are very pleased and proud to be able to offer you these exclusive hunts that are without doubt amongst the best hunting areas in Africa today and the best of the best areas that Zimbabwe and South Africa have to offer.
All of these concessions: Matetsi Unit 2, Matetsi Unit 5, Matetsi ECA, Malipati Safari Area (Gonarezhou), Naivaisha Safari Area (Gonarezhou), Sengwe 1 and 2 (Gonarezhou), Limpopo Serengeti (RSA), Free State Philippolis Lodge (RSA) are all the best of the best hunting areas in today’s Africa.
To able to offer these concessions is huge honour for us and has come at the cost of many years of hard work. These are not hunts that are freely available, these are as we mentioned before, the best of the best.
The two new hunting concessions Matetsi Unit 2, Matetsi Unit 5 are listed below.
Matetsi Safari Area
As mentioned before, the Matetsi Units are the best remaining wild, free range, fair chase hunting areas in Africa today. Matetsi Safari Area’s are a 90 minute drive from Victoria Falls International Airport, there is no charter flight needed to hunt the Matetsi Units.
Matetsi Unit 2 is 292 Kilometers squared in extent with three client chalets each sleeping two persons, with en-suite bathrooms. There is power in the camp with a backup generator and WIFI in the lodge.
Unit 2 is a National Parks Safari Area, therefore there are no people living in any of the Matetsi Units making them true safari areas. It is not uncommon to see herds of hundreds of buffalos, plus dagga boy groups in Unit 2. The area is fantastic for cats, lion and leopard.
Unit 2 shares a border with Botswana and also with Units 1 and 3. Fantastic elephant and sable movement from these units and Botswana together with the resident population of animals make this area a big game mecca.
During 2017, Unit 2 was burnt out due to a natural fire. When we were there in September 2017, the re-growth of the grass was already very good and you can be sure that 2018 and 2019 will be fantastic hunting years in Unit 2 as a result of this new grass.
The Professional Hunters guiding the hunts in Units 2 and 5 are Zimbabwe National Parks PH’s. The same PH’s that deal with dangerous problem animals for Zimbabwe Parks. These same PH’s are also responsible for the theoretical and practical examination of Professional Hunters who are in training to become PH’s in Zimbabwe. The calibre of PH’s guiding these hunts is of the highest standard.
Matetsi Unit 5
Matetsi Unit 5 is a National Parks Safari Area, therefore there are no people living in any of the Matetsi Units making them true safari areas. Matetsi Unit 5 has three rivers that run through it all year around making the Safari Area a hot spot to animals from the adjoining the game rich Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe’s largest. Totalling some 13,000 square kilometres and home to an overwhelming number of wild, free roaming animals.
Together with Matetsi Safari Area, Zambezi National Park, Pandamasui Forest area and Kazuma National Park, all combine to form one of Africa’s largest un-spoilt wilderness areas, over 20,000 square km in extent.
Matetsi Unit 5 is 390 Kilometers squared in extent with five luxury client chalets each sleeping two persons, with en-suite bathrooms. There is generator run power in the camp and WIFI in the lodge.
The rolling hills and valleys in Unit 5 are a perfect area for the resident elephants, buffalos, lions, leopards, sable, roan and a whole host of plains game. Besides the resident populations that live in Unit 5, there are also migratory animals moving into and out of the Unit at all times of the year.
